There used to be a bakery in San Pedro, California where we would get the best cake for birthdays. It was called Ramona's. They have been closed for a while, but we still remember the cake. 

There were many layers of sponge cake with the following fillings: raspberry, bavarian orange, and whipped cream with bananas. I tried to recreate it for my sister's birthday. 

I failed, but the cake still tasted good.
