Wanderlust Wednesdays: Haight-Ashbury

https://vimeo.com/69580857 Travel time from the mission: About 20-30 minutes on the bus, depends on how crowded the bus is. Ideal trip length: 5 hours. Nice to haves: a tolerance for groups of people with dogs. Directions: Take the 33 from 18th and Valencia and get off on Haight and Clayton, walk to Ashbury.

Haight-Ashbury, San Francisco

Today, a stroll down (upper) Haight is more of an exercise in consumerism and dodging tourists than anything else, but there's still something in the air--besides the smell of pot--that reminds you of its hippie history. I always get a little claustrophobic when I am over there, and I wonder what it would have been like had I been able to stroll 30 or 40 years ago. I probably would have felt the same, but maybe I would be a little less uptight about it.

Wander over sometime to experience what it's like today. It's so close if you live in the city, and worth a stop if you are in town for a visit.

Have you been to Haight-Ashbury? What did it remind you of?

Inspiration: my neighborhood

Mission, San Francisco

It is easy to forget where you are when you are going about the day-to-day. I sometimes forget how amazing my neighborhood is and how much inspiration I get from it everyday. Here's peak at things I see all the time from my point of view.

When was the last time you took a look around where you live? The things you pass by daily?

Etxe: Not Your Average Souvenir

Etxe Stephanie Echeveste Not Your Average Souvenir My store is up!! I spent a lot of time thinking about where I want to have it and I picked Tictail for many reasons, not least of which because their Community Manager Livia is so awesome and they are very international-friendly, which is super important for Etxe.

You cannot buy anything from Etxe just yet, but you will soon! I am still finalizing my first product, have to do a photo...we'll just stay tuned and I'll keep you updated.

Future planned travel so far: Seattle, Rio de Janeiro, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Berlin, Washington, D.C., Phoenix. Whew.

What is Etxe? Well, after reflecting on my talents, connections and recent release from Betabrand, I realized I can do what I always dreamed of doing: travel the world and create products inspired by the places I go, people I meet and experiences I have through monthly releases. So a new place every month, a new product and many tales of my adventures! I'll take you behind the scenes not just here in San Francisco, but everywhere I go.
