a room with a view.

Something I've always wondered about style bloggers: Who takes the photos? Are you setting up a tripod everyday? Do you just live with a tripod setup? Do you simply have a person that takes pictures of you on hand? No one has ever given me a good answer. Just something I thought about today. Then I took some photos. I love my room--it's small but has nice windows and light. Best for watching the snow outside, reading, sketching and thinking about how long my flowers will live. Here are some photos featuring my favorite things: my pearl ring I found at my favorite vintage store in San Pedro, Casio watch I got at Tortoise General Store in Venice, brass bracelet made in Cape Cod, which I never take off, warby parker glasses that I sometimes love and sometimes hate, the windows, muji notebooks that just make everything better, my lipgloss, picture of California that I acquired from my one-month stay in Columbia Heights, heels I can actually walk in for long periods of time, a necklace my best friend gave me at her wedding, tote and Canon.the view from my window in Shaw

Right Proper Brewing Co: So much goodness

Right Proper Brewing Company I am still new to the area, so everything -- new, or new new or old news new, is new to me. I went with my sister to <enter correct type of new here> Right Proper Brewing Company last weekend and was pleasantly surprised that a bustling place four blocks from my house could be well priced, have great food, a fun atmosphere, beautiful art walls and delicious beers. We were also seated in about 10 minutes on a Friday night, which is amazing. A favorite that won't get old anytime soon.

snow day musings

Working from home on a snow day in Shaw

I'm still getting used to the notion of a snow day. It's kind of crazy that everything just shuts down--and strange how unprepared DC is for any amount of snow. I suppose it's just so unusual. Things I did today while snow whirred and swirled around me:

  • Enjoyed working from home or WFH for all of you that love acronyms. My room is still not quite set up, but I've got an internet connection, a laptop and the enthusiasm of a new job!
  • Watched an episode of GIRLS--the one where they take a trip to 'The North Fork'. Definitely the best one I've seen so far this season (I know, I need to catch up).
  • Made some Banana-Oat-Coconut-Almond cookies following Ebeth's recipe from our Whole Foods Challenge. They were surprisingly easy and un-surprisingly delicious.
  • Worked out in my room ... because I was too scared of slipping on the ice or falling into a few feet of snow.

Hope you had a great day--snow day or not!
